Fans expressed their anger on social media as Gareth Southgate reportedly plans to start with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden against Denmark.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to several reports, Southgate is most likely to name an unchanged XI against Denmark despite a lacklustre performance against Serbia – especially from Alexander-Arnold and Foden. However, the manager prefers continuity over change after a single match, which means the Liverpool and Manchester City stars get another opportunity to silence their critics against the Danes.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

    However, England fans are miffed with Southgate for his decision to back the misfiring players. Although Alexander-Arnold received some sympathy for playing in an unnatural position in midfield, Foden was skinned for his blunt display on the left.

    @FrankyRN51 was straightforward and wrote on X: "Foden needs [to be] dropped."

    Another supporter, @LFC_Laith, added: "Good on Trent he deserves it but Foden stinks."

    However, user @madm0007 disagreed and wrote: "Shock!! So obvious. TAA in, really?"

    Alexander-Arnold had another sympathiser in @allstars_aag who wrote: "Why’s Trent included in this.. Starboy Phil dropped an absolute stinker."

    Whereas, @thefmetzger blasted Foden and wrote: "Foden should be on the beach in Ibiza."

    Kieran Trippier, who was spotted struggling with cramps in the final quarter against Serbia, is fit to start against Denmark. However, Luke Shaw will not be able to make it to the matchday squad once again as he is still nursing a hamstring injury.

    After edging out Serbia in their first match, England will seal a spot in the knockouts if they beat Denmark on Friday afternoon.
